What is a drain?
In findom, a drain traditionally refers to emptying a sub’s bank account, using a series of sends to the domme’s preferred payment methods. A drain indicates the sub will be giving a significant amount of money to the domme very quickly.
Setting up a drain
Usually, a sub will request that a domme drain them, but sometimes, a domme will post to social media, saying she wants to drain someone, and a sub will volunteer.
Some dommes tell the sub to describe the amount to be drained, and the length of time the drain will last. So, if a sub has $1,000 and wants the drain to last 30 minutes, the domme will know how to space her demands for sends, and about how much to demand each time.
Some dommes don’t ask, and just dive in. If you know the sub, and have already established about how much expendable cash they have, not asking can work, if there’s a safe word in place to let you know your sub has reached their limit.
My way of navigating this is to say “do you have an amount in mind this evening, or shall I just drain you until you squeal?”, which is a humorous way to approach the money discussion. Think of a way to ask for what you want to know that suits your domme persona.
How to drain
Once how much and how long have been established, it’s up to each domme to decide how the drain will proceed.
Some dommes turn the drain into a game. Using a wheel spin to determine how much will be sent every few minutes, or playing 20 questions, and telling the sub to pay for each wrong answer, or any game you can think of that can prompt multiple sends.
Some dommes simply use a chat session, sending audio or video clips demanding each amount. You may see dommes posting “send, double it, triple it, again” or similar phrases on social media, mimicking a drain session.
Drain vs. rinse
A rinse is a smaller, quick drain. Generally, a rinse is for a lesser amount of money in each send, and for a smaller total amount. So, a rinse might be for $100 total, in $10 and $20 sends, while a drain might be for $1,000, in $50 and $100 sends. These amounts vary with the domme’s experience, and the value she puts on her time. $1,000 may be a drain for a new domme, but a rinse for one who is in a higher income bracket.
Be careful
When doing drains or rinses, choose your payment method carefully. CashApp may flag an account that has multiple small sends from the same person in a short period of time. Don’t ever use PayPal or Venmo for this type of activity.
Be creative and have fun.
