How to use Reddit for findom
While Twitter/X seems to be throttling adult content, some dommes are moving to Reddit. Since the rules on Reddit are a bit of a moving target, I thought I’d whip together a little guide to help everyone have a more positive experience there.
My Reddit expertise: I spent five years as a mod of a very active subreddit for creators of both SFW and NSFW content, so I know the site from both the user and moderator perspectives.
This information is up to date as of October, 2023.
Setting up an account
Set up your account using your domme email. You’ll generally be assigned a random user name, which you should change immediately to one you can work with. There’s a difference between your user name, which is permanent, and your display name, so make sure you change both. Your display name will appear on your profile page, but your user name will appear on every post and comment you make.
Fill in your profile
Head to user settings, and fill in your profile info as much as you can. Sometimes, social links in profiles aren’t allowed right away, so come back to this when you’ve posted and commented a bit.
Join some subreddits
The first sub to join: r/findomsupportgroup. No verification is required, because no promotions or ads are allowed. However, this group provides a good ear to the ground for what’s going on in findom on multiple sites. You will get fresh tea here daily, and also, lots of newbie questions. I answer questions there when I have time, because this sub is the reason I started writing Findomme 101.
There’s a sister sub, r/paypigsupportgroup, which I don’t recommend for dommes. There are occasional waves of anti-domme sentiment there that I prefer to avoid.
Build karma
Karma is the measure of how active you are on the site, and since your new account has zero karma, you’ll want to do a little karma building. Karma is built by posting and commenting. If someone upvotes, you get a karma point. If someone downvotes, you lose a karma point.
Many findom groups require a certain amount of karma before you’ll be allowed to post or comment. To get there a little faster, try commenting on posts in r/AskRedditAfterDark. With almost a million members, if you post a good comment, you can come away with a lot of karma points. Hit the New post filter to find posts that don’t already have a bazillion comments, and answer thoughtfully, or be a smart ass, as the post warrants.
Other good subs for karma building: r/AmItheAsshole, with 11.5 million members, where you should comment on new posts that don’t sound like they’re written by teenagers; and r/AskReddit, with 43.5 million members.
Pro tip: do not join these large subreddits. They’ll flood your feed with posts. Visit, read, comment, and leave. It’s not hard to navigate back to them without joining.
Build your page
While waiting for sufficient karma to join some findom groups where you can promote yourself, use your profile page the way you’d use Twitter. Post pics, just like you would on any other social media page. By the time you join those findom groups, you want a page full of pics of yourself, so potential subs have something to look at when they visit.
Add videos quickly
If you’re an adult content creator, as soon as Reddit figures out that’s what you are, based on the subreddits where you post and comment, you will lose the ability to post videos anywhere on the site. Before they figure it out, add any videos you have to your profile page.
A workaround, for after you lose video posting: .GIFs work. Convert your videos with a video to .GIF app. You’ll lose the sound from your video when you convert to a .GIF, but that’s OK.
Look for some findom communities to join
There are a bazillion findom communities that you will be able to join, but not post or comment in, for a while. Use this time to find subreddits you like. Join, read posts, and see if the vibe suits you. If so, check the rules and requirements for verifying and posting.
Always read the subreddit rules
Every subreddit is run by its own group of volunteer moderators. Some mods are chill, and some are complete hard asses, but universally, mods hate people who violate the rules they’ve set up for their community. Every subreddit has them, so be sure you read about each community before attempting to post. There are a lot of mods who will simply ban rule breakers with no warning, and once you’re out, you’re out permanently.
Findom subreddits to consider
I hesitate to post a list of subs to join, because they have a habit of disappearing, just like finsubs do. However, these look like they might stick around:
r/Findom is probably the largest findom group that allows dommes to post pics once they’re verified. I followed them for a bit, and decided it was just too active, and too pretty girl oriented for me.
r/PaypigsNeedingDommes is really dommes advertising their services. Again, very active, but maybe a bit more diverse in domme types.
r/FindomDolls is run by a former member of one of my favorite Twitter engagement groups. It’s smaller, but completely drama-free, and has a diverse group of dommes posting daily.
Also, be sure to search findom + your location, to see if there’s a local findom group for you to join. Likewise, search for subreddits specific to your type. If you’re a BBW, an ebony domme, a mommy domme, or an older domme, look for communities that already cater to what you’re offering.
Notifications and permissions
Reddit has both chat and messaging, so make sure you have notification for new messages and chat turned on. Shut everything else off, unless you want your phone to blow up. And make sure your permissions are set to allow everyone to message and start a chat.
What have I left out?
This will get you started on Reddit, but I’m sure there will be questions. Google is your friend, because chances are, someone has asked your question already. If not, leave it in the comments here, and I’ll try to answer.
